In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in spring of 2020, Inside Out Youth Services, which supports LGBTQ+ young people in the Pikes Peak region, moved its programming online. This shift enabled the organization to ensure there was no gap in services for this critically underserved population.
Now, Inside Out is delighted to announce the return of limited in-person programming, with full COVID-19 precautions.
Regular in-person programming resumes every Friday and Tuesday at Inside Out starting June 25.
Full program schedule:
Mondays: VIRTUAL. Discord drop-in starting at 3 p.m., Qmmunity resilience at 5:30 p.m.
Tuesdays: IN PERSON. All-ages drop-in at the Inside Out space from 3-5:30 p.m., Adulting program for young adults (18-24 only) from 5:30-7 p.m.
Wednesdays: VIRTUAL. No Discord drop-in hours, Transformation at 5:30 p.m.
Thursdays: VIRTUAL. Discord drop-in starting at 3 p.m., Smart Hearts at 5:30 p.m.
Fridays: IN PERSON. All-ages drop-in at the Inside Out space from 3-5:30 p.m., Rec night for middle and high school youth only (13-18), 5:30-7 p.m.
“We found a great deal of success moving programming to our Discord server in 2020, reaching more LGBTQ+ young people this past year than ever,” says Inside Out’s Communications Manager Alissa Smith (they/she). “But there is no substitute for in-person connection, and some young people can’t join us online. We’ll be moving forward with a hybrid model so youth can interact with our programming in multiple ways, ensuring the widest possible accessibility to our critical services.”
Masks will be required in the space, and other COVID precautions such as social distancing and regular sanitation of common surfaces will be observed. In May, Inside Out hosted two vaccine equity clinics to serve its young people, and the LGBTQ+ and allied community of Colorado Springs.
