Support LGBTQIA2+ youth

We know that youth who have access to a trusted adult are much more likely to have positive outcomes in their lives. We also know that the work of building an energetic, supportive community for LGBTQIA2+ young people in the Tava-Kaavi (Pikes Peak) region takes more than just the work of our staff and youth. That’s why we need YOU!

At Inside Out Youth Services, everyone has a place to make an impact. Whether you enjoy working directly with young people, supporting behind the scenes, organizing events, advocating for change, or helping create safe and inclusive spaces, we’d love to have you join our community.

Our main volunteer opportunities include supporting drop-ins and youth programs, serving as a tabling ambassador, joining our activist network, assisting with events, and contributing to committees.

All volunteers go through an onboarding process that includes a clear federal and state background check, a completed volunteer application, and required trainings such as QPR/Intro to LGBTQIA2+, and Mandatory Reporter Training. Additional trainings, like Tabling Ambassador or Youth Programs are available for those interested in specific areas of our work.

Hear why they volunteer

I volunteer to help build a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for local youth. Building intergenerational relationships with like-minded people helps foster a sense of belonging for us all and strengthens the resilience of this ever-growing and loving community. Facilitating such a wonderful organization is so rewarding in many ways — volunteering at Inside Out is truly one of the only places I know where you get more out than what you put in.

Ryan (he/him)

“I applied to volunteer at Inside Out Youth Services, believing that my comprehensive life and professional experiences could benefit a group of young people who deserve to live with dignity and respect, but continue to encounter unnecessary challenges. After meeting these remarkable youth, who showed great courage and wisdom, I quickly understood how much I stood to learn from them.

Mahatma Gandhi said, ” the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” This captures my volunteer experience well, thanks to the devoted staff who welcomed me wholeheartedly and invited me to join their mission to support and uplift the youth they serve. Being a part of this community continues to inspire me, and I am becoming a better person because of my time here.”
